Position size calculator

Generic calculators assume everything trades like EUR/USD. Real accounts do not: funded futures accounts size in mini and micro contracts, and CFD instruments have minimum lot steps: gold from 0.01, indices often from 0.10. This calculator speaks both languages and always shows the risk you actually take after rounding, not the one you planned.

Assumes the common gold spec: 100 oz per lot, quoted to 2 decimals, so 1 point is $0.01 and is worth $1 per lot. Some brokers quote 3 decimals, where MT5 shows 10 times the points for the same move. Check your broker's contract specification.

Contract spec: typical values, edit to match your broker

Lot sizing and point values differ between brokers, so check your broker's contract specification before trusting any preset.

0.25 lot keeps you at $100 risk, inside your $100 budget. Size is the output; the stop and the budget are the decisions.

The rule behind the math

Size is an output, not an input: decide the risk budget and the stop first, and the position size is whatever those two allow, rounded down to what your instrument can actually trade. If the rounded size is zero, that is not a calculator problem; it is the market telling you this trade does not fit your account.

Educational tool, not financial advice. Futures per-point values are official exchange specs; CFD specs are typical defaults that vary by broker, so always verify your broker's contract specification. Nothing you enter is stored or sent anywhere.
